This week we have been studying the text features and text structure of a non-fiction passage, Return of the Wolves. Write a summary of this passage and tell me which side of the debate you would be on if lived near a wilderness area.
Today we finished Who Moved My Cheese? So what do you think....1. Do you think Hem changed? 2. Are you like Sniff, Scurry, Hem or Haw? 3. Could Haw change his friend Hem or can you only change yourself? 4. What do you do when your Cheese is moved? 5. What could your New Magical Cheese be? 6. How could you do something new to change and win today? This week we are practicing Reading is Thinking. We are reading Who Moved My Cheese for Kids by Spencer and Christian Johnson. What situation has happened to you like Hem, Haw, Skim and Scurry? Did you handle it like Haw or like Scurry? What strategies did you use during independent reading time to help you read your book? How did you exemplify Reading is Thinking? Today we reviewed Reading is Thinking and even modeled some new techniques or skills to use as you read. What are some techniques and how do you use them as you read? Why do you think these skills help us become better readers?
Today we read Miss Nelson is Missing! by Harry Allard and James Marshall. We also added taking book notes on the notepad app on our iPads while Miss Davis read the story. When you went to your reading spots today you got to take your iPad to take notes. WHY did we start taking notes about our books? (What will you be using these for?) We also watched a video at the beginning of our lesson, what did that video teach us? What are some components we need to include when doing things the right way like in the video? |
Reader's ResponseThis blog is dedicated to reader's response for stories we read as a class or independently in Miss Davis' 5th grade class at SGE. Sometimes we may do a blog post, but for other times you will use the buttons below! Archives
