Hey all!
So here is the info on me....check it out.
Name: Melissa Davis
Birthday: January 12
Teaching Experience: This will be my 9th year teaching. I started teaching in 2004 at Wahl-Coates Elementary School after completing my internship there with Miss Stefko. I taught Kindergarten there for 5 years. Then I was moved to South Greenville Elementary where I taught Kindergarten for 2 years. Last year I endeavored into my first year of 5th grade and I LOVED it! So much that I am back for my 4th year at SGE and my 2nd in 5th grade.
College: I graduated from East Carolina University in 2004! GO PIRATES!
Favorite Color: purple
Favorite Animal: FROG!
Favorite Place: The beach!
Things I love: Frogs, taking pictures, painting when I have time, FLOWERS, friends!, singing!, teaching....duh!
More about me: I grew up in Wilson, NC where I took dance for 16 years and sang in choir since I was in the 5th grade. My parents are Bob and Gail Davis and they still live in Wilson. I am the middle child of 3 kids. I have an older brother who works at Radford University and lives in Blacksburg, VA. He has his PhD! Go Dr. Davis. My sister is married and lives in Beulaville, NC but works in Greenville so I see her about once a week! Some people say we look just a like.....funny those genetics. I came to ECU in 1999 and I used to think I wanted to be a doctor and I loved kids. I have babysat since I was 12 and took the Safe Sitter Course with the Red Cross. I realized in college after starting my first 2 years of Pre-Med Chemistry that I had so much creativity and love for teaching others that teaching was more my thing. You can thank my freshman college roommate for helping me see the light with all of the awesome activities she created to give me the thought of....hey that teaching stuff actually looks fun! So after I graduated I just stayed in Greenville and here I am.
On MOST Sundays you can find me singing on the praise team at St. James UMC. I am the secretary of the Pitt County Association of Educators. I enjoy having students interns come learn and share in my classroom each year. I also teach a science camp in the summers at Pitt Community College for 2 weeks with their Explore! Camp. Check out some pictures to share a little more about me below.
