Here is a teacher's guide to the daily lessons that might help you for your lessons plans. If you aren't sure about the abbreviations, please contact us. Teacher you will need to go to the pre-test/post-test page to print out the test. You will also need to go to the evaluation page and print out the rubric guide and student rubric score sheet and make copies. Students will also need copies of the answer sheet for the Digital Scavenger Hunt. Click here for the answer sheet. Teachers, finally you need to print the student self-evaluations for students to complete when done with this WebQuest.
Purpose: The purpose of this WebQuest is to do a unit of study on simple machines with application into the real world. At the end of this WebQuest students will have researched simple machines and how they have been used in the past as well as the present. Students will be taking photographs of simple machines around the school. Students will be designing a simple machine for their family to make a job or work easier in their house. Students will write a persuasive essay to convince the Handy Cheetah Helpers Factory to invest in their simple machine invention. Students may also create a Glogster or PowerPoint to help persuade the company with visual examples. Students will need to be able to justify why they created the machine for their family.

4.06 Build and use a model to solve a mechanical design problem. Devise a test for the model and evaluate the results of the test.

Social Studies:
Competency Goal 5: The learner will evaluate ways the United States and other countries of North America make decisions about the allocation and use of economic resources.

Competency Goal 3: The learner will use a variety of technologies to access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply and communicate information.
