Today we are starting to do our independent reading in reading spots. Remember that if you follow procedure and continue to meet expectations then we get to keep using our reading spots! We also talked about how if we come to a word we don't know or if we need more information on something we read about that with our iPads we have ways to find the info!!! What was that digital tool I told you about? So...What book did you read today? Did you enjoy having a reading spot to read? What are the expectations for reading spots? What would happen if we have people not meeting these expectations? Make sure you answer in COMPLETE SENTENCES! And only put your first name.
We are rocking out the iPads! As you can see from our circle map (yes the frame of reference is missing...oops) we really know some defining terms of the ipad! My personal favorites are collaborate and create! I hope we can utilize them in more ways than you could imagine this year. So far we have learned how to care for them including how to get our ipad and return it to the cart. We practiced "hugging it like a kitten", tight enough so it won't fall and close to our chest, but not so tight that we squish it. The students have enjoyed exploring with them and they will be close to pro status by the end of the week when we complete our QR Student Handbook Scavenger Hunt. We will blog our hearts out! Students, please coom
Tomorrow is the infamous first day of school for our new school year. It is going to be awesome...I can feel it I have been spending the day getting last minute things ready to make it an awesome start. Well, back to work I go. See you all tomorrow bright and early!! AND don't forget your smile!
We are sitting here listening to an awesome technology guru and learning some great tools to use on our classroom such as how to publish your very own ebook, connect with other teachers using iPads in the classroom, and how to open the world to our students this next year. Kevin honeycutt is really motivating us on the power of pur new tool. He has inspired passion and tears with his story. I am excited to meet my new Davis Island resident frogs tonight at open house.
I am working on updating my website with lots of neat things, please be patient for changes to come. Also I appreciate all suggestions of what I should add on here. It's simple, just add a comment and tell me what you think. Thanks for listening and I look forward to updating you...a lot(hopefully) Ribbit! Let the iPad adventures begin....dun dun dunOK so this is prepare your classroom week, and the fun has definitely begun. Teachers have had their iPads for about a month now and we are starting to figure them out. I am excited about becoming a one-to-one school this year, but at the same time I know it is going to have some challenges. LIKE.....extra lesson planning and app playing. SOOOO.....if you see me glued to my iPad, my excuse is I am testing things out for work. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it! I love being a tech nerd! Lets hope my new students love it too! I can't wait to meet them at Open House on Thursday. I just finished creating my Parent Sign In using Google Forms. The parents will get a taste of one way we will use this new learning tool at our school. I also just added my students into Weebly so they can have their very own website, don't worry.....I made them private! Such an exciting year to come, if you need me this year......I will be using my technology, look for me there....text, email, chat message, blog comment....haha!
